We are a team of designers with a real passion for what we do. More than 30 years of experience in the design and print industry helps us to get it right first time, on time, every time, and within budget.

We are a full service creative design agency based in the heart of Derby’s Cathedral Quarter. Our ethos is to create engaging, innovative designs, and to always exceed our clients’ needs and expectations.

Creative Director
Having worked in graphic design for over 30 years, 15 of which include working alongside Maggie, we set up Square One to really make the most of our complementary skills.
I thrive on developing creative solutions to complex design briefs. With an old-school eye for typography, I truly believe ‘the devil’s in the detail’
Craig Melniks
Graphic Designer
I joined the Square One team early last year. Over the past 16 years, I have worked for various Graphic Design agencies, both in Derby and Nottingham. I love working on projects which I can really get my teeth into – brochures, magazines, newsletters and catalogues.
I live in Derby with my partner and our two gorgeous daughters, who take up much of my time. Being an avid ‘Rams’ fan, I like to attend as many games as I can. I also enjoy getting together with family and friends; I put on a pretty mean BBQ, and I’m affectionately known as ‘King of the Grill’.
Our (other) skills
There’s so much more to us than just being super-fast, creative graphic design geniuses! We also make a fabulous cup of coffee for our clients (as long as Maggie is kept well away from the kettle!).
Making the most of our extensive music knowledge, we play along daily to Radio Two’s Pop Master (our station of choice). Mark and Maggie love reliving their youth by reminiscing and singing along to nostalgic tunes (Craig just smiles politely and pretends he’s enjoying our classic tracks).

They are fast, reactive and responsive. They create high quality designs and are really good at suggesting alternatives if the feel there is a better way of doing something.
Over the past few years we have worked with Square One and they have always produced high quality work on tight timescales. They are professional and very personable and always eager to please.
Over the many, many years I have worked with Maggie and Mark, they have always delivered exactly what I need, when I need it.
However much it drives Mark round the twist, we are now at a point where we send very limited information to Mark and he will design exactly what we want.
Everything I threw at you has been met on or before our deadlines with a clear eye on what was needed in the design, even if we were not clear ourselves!
Maggie has a passion for what she does and is absolutely a 'go to' person for support when it comes to all things print associated.
